Hello everyone! My name is Darey-Ann and I’m a MEXT scholar from Suriname, South-America. So far I’ve taken the Japanese Beginner 1 and 2 classes at JLCSE. And I would love to continue on!
One thing I really like about the classes is that the teachers always give us real-life scenarios where we can apply our vocabulary to. And they always leave room for us to ask questions about sentences we’ve heard while out shopping or out with friends. Our teachers are so energetic and enthusiastic about teaching Japanese, and it really reflects in the classes as well. The classes are well-organized, and our senseis are patient, kind, and overall very encouraging.
I also like that JLCSE organizes so many different events, such as visitor’s sessions, tea ceremonies, and kimono-wearing experiences. I’ve participated in an anime voice acting workshop and that was an extremely fun experience where I had the opportunity to practice my Japanese speaking and voice acting skills!
There is a good variety in the lessons between presentations, practicing with each other, and writing and listening practice with handouts, and we even started learning kanji. The classes teach us reading, writing, listening and speaking and there is sufficient time allocated for all four aspects. I’ve been very pleased to also learn kanji characters little by little, so that the world around me now makes more sense.
Another great thing about the classes is that I’ve made friends with students from all over the world. We’ve had time to present about our own countries, and I’ve enjoyed learning about other cultures as well.
Thanks to JLCSE, my Japanese is improving step by step, and I find myself understanding more of what people are saying. Even my Japanese speaking friends comment that my Japanese has gotten better! If you’re thinking about learning Japanese, I highly recommend the classes at JLCSE. You don’t need to worry, you can enjoy learning! Let’s do our best together!
