- Objectives
- To learn basic sentence structures and vocabulary at the beginner level (L13-22) and to develop basic skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. To study 60 Kanji required for JLPT N5 level. To be able to use Japanese in everyday life situations.
- Prerequisite
- Completion of Beginning 1 course. Command of Hiragana and Katakana or CEFR A1.1 equivalent.

- Daichi 1 Translation of the Main Text and Grammar Notes (3A Network) e-Book also available*
*We recommend buying the paper version textbook (printed textbook) for its ease of use and learning efficiency.
- Evaluation
- Course will be completed if all the following requirements have been met:
1) Have attended more than 70% of classes; 2) Have completed the final exam. - Letter grades for the entire course will be assigned as follows:
A:100-80% B:79-65% C:64-50% F:49-0% - Makeup exams for the midterm and final exams can be scheduled ONLY within one week after regular exams. Makeup exams will only be worth 80% of the possible score that can be attained through regular exams. No makeup will be offered for other quizzes.
- Course will be completed if all the following requirements have been met:

- Credits: 4 (courses may also be taken as noncredit courses)
- A course completion certificate will be given upon request to students who receive a letter grade of C or higher.
- Course schedules are based on the academic calendar of the School of Engineering.
- Missing more than 30 minutes of each class is considered as an absence. Arriving to class late or leaving class early 3 times will be regarded as one absence.
- The attendance of the first week will not be counted since it is an orientation week.
- Class contents and classrooms are subject to change.
